Power is very necessary to run the dishwasher smoothly. If your dishwasher is not receiving enough power, I recommend you inspect the power source and wire of the dishwasher.

Similarly, the water supply issue can also stop the dishwasher from starting.

So, I recommend you check your dishwasher’s water supply and ensure there should not be a blockage or clogged in the water source pipe.

Sometimes the water supply pump can also get defects; there are many such things that can affect the water supply in the Frigidaire dishwasher.

How to fix the Frigidaire dishwasher not starting problem?

There are no specific solutions to this problem. First, we need to identify a problem with our dishwasher then; only we can fix this issue from our dishwasher.

Therefore, we have brought some possible problems that can stop the Frigidaire dishwasher from starting.

I recommend you to make a proper inspection into these problems with your dishwasher. If it exists, follow the step-wise instruction to fix that particular problem on your dishwasher.

Power problem

As mentioned earlier, the power problem is one of the common reasons that can stop the dishwasher from starting.

The dishwasher requires a stable power supply in order to operate smoothly. Besides this, there might be wire cut off and fault on power supply inside dishwasher motor and pump.

We need to consider every possible problem related to the power problem; only we will get the idea to fix the issue.

The first thing that you can do is check if the dishwasher breaker is tripped or not.

If your dishwasher breaker is tripped, you need to reset the breaker. All you need to do is Turn off and On the breaker.

If you had noticed some power problems before the dishwasher stopped working. I recommend you make a proper inspection of the dishwasher power supply.

If you have extended wire on your power source, then ensure that there are no wires cut off or any kinds of issues that could stop the dishwasher from getting electricity.

If there is an issue with the thermal fuse, you can’t operate the control panel. When you can’t operate the control panel, you can’t do anything.

The thermal fuse can blow up during a short circuit and stop the dishwasher from working.

It is located beside the control panel. You can use a multimeter and see if it is receiving current or not.

If the wire is loose, connect it properly with the thermal fuse. After this, check if the control board is receiving current or not.

Faulty Door latch

The dishwasher can’t start if the door latch is faulty or damaged. The dishwasher door is connected with a sensor that detects the door locked in your dishwasher.

If your dishwasher door is not locked control panel does not allow you to run the dishwasher cycle. Therefore, make sure that the dishwasher door latch is properly working and not loose.

If it is loose, then use a screw and tighten them up. Besides this, I also recommend you look door gasket of the dishwasher.

When the gasket gets torn up, the sensor detects the door as open and could stop the dishwasher from working.

Sometimes the door sensor gets faulty and makes it difficult to identify if the door is closed or not.

First of all, ensure that there should not be damage to the gasket. If there is, you should replace the existing gasket with a new one.

Similarly, if the dishwasher door latch is loose or not working, here is the step-wise instruction to replace the dishwasher door latch.

  1. Open the dishwasher door and then remove all the screws from the door. This will give you access to the dishwasher door latch.
  2. Now unthread the screw inside the panel, which secures control assembly on your dishwasher. After this, remove the control panel from the front of your appliances.
  3. Just behind the control panel, you can access the door latch. Now there, you will see two wires being connected to the dishwasher door latch. Remove those wires from the latch and make sure to note down the reference of wire while removing.
  4. After this, remove the door latch from the dishwasher.
  5. Now install the new door latch on your dishwasher, and after this, connect the wire. Make sure to don’t wire should not be mismatched in the new door latch.
  6. Once you install the wire in the dishwasher door latch, put the screw and secure the front panel on your dishwasher.

Follow the above-listed step-wise instruction to install and replace the door latch from the Frigidaire dishwasher.

After you replace the door latch, try turning on the dishwasher and see if the dishwasher can start or not. If the problem persists, go to the next issue.

The issue on the control panel

When there is a problem with the control panel, it will create a serious problem in the dishwasher.

You can’t even reset or Turn On your dishwasher in this case. A couple of problems can create an issue with your dishwasher control panel.

The first problem that could create an issue on the control panel is the thermal fuse.

A thermal fuse prevents heating and current overflow in the control panel. Where there is a short circuit in your dishwasher, it will cut off the connection in the dishwasher control panel.

This will prevent further damage to your control panel. So, if the thermal fuse is blown up, you should replace it with a new one.

Similarly, if there is a touchpad issue, you can’t set up temperature and water pressure. In this situation, most of the control panel function does not respond.

There could be three possible reasons in the control panel that could cause thermal fuse problem, Touchpad issue, and issue on dishwasher chip.

If there is a problem with the thermal fuse, you need to change it. Similarly, if there is a problem with the dishwasher touchpad, you should open up the dishwasher’s front panel.

You will see different wire types connected to the dishwasher control panel.

You need to ensure that all these wires are properly connected, and there should not be a loose wire connected to the touchpad of a dishwasher.

Water supply issue

Water is very much important in dishwashers. The dishwasher requires water to start the cycle on the dishwasher.

If there is a low water supply in your dishwasher, you can’t start your dishwasher even if its power is on.

The major reason for the low water supply is clogged water pipes. When the dishwasher water supply pipe gets clogged, water cannot pass through the dishwasher pipe.

Similarly, if you have set the water pressure and temperature above-recommended level, there is a high chance your dishwasher won’t start.

Sometimes the inlet hose gets kinked or damaged, which can also affect the water supply in the dishwasher.

First of all, ensure that the dishwasher is receiving enough water from the source.

Sometimes the water supply valve will not move or gets jammed, which can also stop water from passing into the dishwasher.

Furthermore, check the dishwasher inlet valve and check if there is a presence of calcium or debris buildup or not.

If there is, then make sure to remove it. If there is no calcium buildup or clog, check the water supply pump on your dishwasher.

The water supply pump pumps out water in the dishwasher. If the water supply pump is not working, you can’t start your dishwasher.

When there is a problem with the water supply pump, you will notice a humming noise or no sound.

The water supply pump problem requires technicians to fix the problem in your dishwasher.

You need to change the water pump from your dishwasher in some cases.

So, it is better to call technicians or the Frigidaire service center if you have support.
